The "Muva," Of Locs
Bella Locs, is the freedom and emancipation of Trina B, the first Black Woman in the US to own a synthetic loc collection. After suffering the loss of my twins whom one was to be named "Lulu Bella," (Lulu Arabic for Pearl & Bella just because it sounded like a brand) I decided to continue with that legacy and created "Bella Locs." As a cosmetologist for over 20 years and businesswoman I saw the need for hair care and hair education within the black & brown community. From this idea I combined my signature loc style and hair growth company "Hair Greed Tea," together and began my quest into the market.
When beginning the renowned brand signature "Ultra Mermaid Locs," (trademark pending) in 2016 it was with necessity. I was wearing clip-in hair extensions and they begin to thin my hair especially around the perimeter. I wanted “faux locs,” to protect my hair and obtain regrowth. I went to the hair store and purchased faux locs and created my chic loc look. After posting a picture on social media with my new doo- the demand started almost immediately.

The response was so overwhelming that I was booked and busy from sun up to sun down. To better support my growing business I began wholesaling the hair from an online vendor making the experience for clients much smoother. But, as life would have it soon after finding my amazing grace-the manufacturer decided to end that brand of locs and my six-figure business was in jeopardy. In order to keep my business afloat a business that my 3 children's very livelihood depended on- I had to leave the country and have my own locs developed. In 2019 changed the loc game; Developing and manufacturing my own SYNTHETIC Loc brand with no acids and not one allergic reaction from one of my 1000+ clients serviced. I have grown my brand and am now offering my knowledge, skills, products and business savvy to the masses. Mentoring one on one courses in trichology, hair loss, brand building, Mermaid Loc techniques and more. I am the “Muva,” of Mermaid Locs.
